WOLF'S FANG, ANTARCTICA

The first marathon of The Great World Race takes place at Wolf’s Fang runway, Antarctica. For most participants, it will be the first time they cross into the Antarctic Circle and set foot on the ‘frozen continent’, a truly momentous occasion. The runway is situated at 71 Degrees South latitude on the Antarctica continental landmass, directly south of Cape Town. The picturesque, non-technical, and groomed 10.55 km looped course is operated in the vicinity of the runway and allows competitors the opportunity to embrace Antarctica in all its glory.

CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

The second marathon of The Great World Race involves six laps of 7.03 km circuit at Sea Point promenade, an attractive paved walkway that is much loved by locals and visitors alike. The walkway is flanked by well-manicured lawns, popular for picnics and informal soccer or cricket games. It’s a fabulous place to run, with views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic coastline by your side. The race starts and finishes adjacent to the Winchester Hotel, the HQ for our Cape Town activities.

PERTH, AUSTRALIA

The third marathon of The Great World Race is operated at the West Australian Marathon Club in Burswood, Perth. Under the shadows of the spectacular Optus Stadium and Crown Casino, the path runs along the Swan River with the city skyline in the background. An eight-loop course of 5.275 km, the Australia race will be operated in the evening when cooler conditions should be conducive to a pleasant run and the potential for fast times.

ABU DHABI, ASIA

Abu Dhabi, the dazzling capital of the United Arab Emirates, serves as the fourth stop on The Great World Race, offering competitors a striking blend of tradition and modernity. Known for its breathtaking skyline, world-class architecture, and deep-rooted cultural heritage, Abu Dhabi presents a unique challenge and an unforgettable experience for racers. As participants arrive, they’ll be greeted by the shimmering Arabian Gulf, golden desert landscapes, and the towering presence of landmarks like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.

ALGARVE, EUROPE

As the fifth stop on The Great World Race, Faro, Portugal, offers racers a mix of history, nature, and coastal beauty. Located in the Algarve, this city is known for its charming Old Town, scenic beaches, and connection to the sea. Competitors arriving in Faro will experience its relaxed yet adventurous atmosphere, where centuries-old architecture meets the open waters of the Atlantic.

Challenges in Faro may take racers through the cobbled streets of the Old Town, past historic landmarks like Arco da Vila and Faro Cathedral, or into the Ria Formosa Natural Park.  The city’s blend of land and sea ensures a variety of obstacles and experiences.

CARTAGENA, SOUTH AMERICA

The sixth marathon of The Great World Race will be a six times out-and-back course by the coast in Cartagena. Located on Colombia’s Caribbean Coast, Cartagena is Colombia’s 5th largest city, and one of its most popular travel destinations. The historic Old Town is made up of stunning colonial architecture, vibrant shops and restaurants, and narrow cobblestone streets utilised primarily by pedestrians and passing carriages. While the main attraction is the Old Town, Cartagena is much more than its colourful streets: it has high-rise developments, long stretches of coast, offshore reefs and very vibrant neighbourhoods.

MIAMI, NORTH AMERICA​

The seventh and final leg of The Great World Race will take place at South Beach, Miami. There is no better place in the world to finish than Florida’s famous beach, complete with its sunny weather, trendy nightlife, fine dining, luxury oceanfront hotels and Art Deco architecture. A six-loop course that begins on Ocean Drive and runs along the Beachwalk pathway will help to make a dream come true for participants. Excited groups of family and friends will gather to cheer and celebrate competitors on the conclusion of their epic adventure.
